Canvas Enhancement classes are a great way to learn new stitches and techniques on a canvas that you have chosen. The canvas must be a canvas that you have purchased from the store. It can be one you have had in your stash for awhile but it has to have been purchased here. We send it to Tony and he selects the threads and writes the stitches for the piece. Then you come to class and for 3 very fun-filled days you work on your piece, trying each stitch that he has given you.

Kurumie II

This sprightly figure is the second one that Ann has adapted from “kurumie” — a form of Japanese paper relief art.  The young girl is kneeling on an elegant “diapered” pillow with “mock” tassel ends as she plays with an Origami crane.  Several elegant composite patterns embellish her kimono and obi, and the figure is surrounded by a delicate open background and a stunning original border with multiple steps and six different threads.  Both have four-way main frameworks and the corner motifs are what else — more origami cranes!
